So I got the ISA server primed and configured for the production environment. If it was up to me I would block everything but port 80. Unfortunately my company has a very open Internet usage policy so i had to spend time enabling apps that everyone on this forum are trying to block. It suckz.
Just as I thought I had everything up and running one of the VP mentioned that they wanted WinMX enabled. Three hours later I still can't get it to work.
It works fine if protocol rules are set to "all". Packet sniffer shows the app using TCP 6699 and a zillion secondary connections. I went as far as creating 1-54,000 TCP in and out and 1-54,000 udp send and receive as secondary without success. Anyone else were forced to allow this crappy app on their network and if so could you please share the config. Thx.
P.S. I guess as I final resort I can create "allow all" protocol rule and assign it to the user but I'd rather not.

Dude,

Here's the reality of your situation: if you allow outbound access to WinMX, you have *no* outbound access control or network security, so you might as well create an all open rule for outbound access. [Frown]
