Hi all,
I got a ISA 2004 as gateway / firewall on 192.168.100.1 (internal Lan ip)
I got a Windows 2003 Server with Windows Media Server on 192.168.100.5
When i ask up a stream from the media server on my own comp it all works fine. (internal network 192.168.100.10)
Ive try'd 2 server publishing rules, the first with the MMS protocoll (microsoft media server) and the second with the RTSP protocoll (Ream Time Streaming Protocoll).
But the damn thing aint workin. With the MMS protocoll the WMP (windows media player) say's that it cant find the file. And with the RTSP protocoll the WMP say's that "The requested address is not valid in its context.".
The requests appear in the ISA logging and the ISA sets up fine a connection with 192.168.100.5 box.
The strangest thing is that when i use HTTP publishing it all works fine from the internet to the external interface.
Anyone knows what the problem is, if you need more info or screeners just tell me.
Thanxz! [ September 26, 2004, 04:51 PM: Message edited by: StarChase ]

Hi Star,
I tested this scenario and it does work. What URL are you using to access the mms site?
Thanks! Tom

Hi Tom, im using like any hostname what points to my external interface from the i-net.
For example: mms://myhostname/mediathingy (without the media extention)
If i do it through a webpublish like http://streams.myhostname.nl/media it works fine.
I also tried the embedded HTM and ASX files and set them 2 use a external name is results in the same like the mms.
Tom, did you only make a mms rule in ISA or also the RTSP rule?

Hi Star,
I found that making an RTSP rule was all that I required. Maybe it was a function of the test environment, as I only tested with the sample videos included with the Windows Media Server.
HTH, Tom
