Hi! Im currently using ISA2000 in Win2003. Why is it that the windows start up is so slow? Windows start up and log in approximately takes 20 minutes. I have other other proxy servers which are working perfectly fine, therefore, ISP connection is not a problem. The problematic server's spects is Pentium III with 256 of memory.

Here is a wild shot. Did you Manualy edit your MenuShowDelay in the registry to "O" ?
To speed up your start menu button?
I have found out Server 2003 does not like this and it will cause a startup delay and overall slow operation when it finally does boot.

No. I didn't configure anything in the registry. Is there any other way to speed up Windows start up?

My 1st question is "When did it start being slow?" More often thatn not (90%+ IMHO) "problems" are caused by a change made previously. eg: a patch isntalled, reg hacks, other changes etc.

Do you suspet ISA is the cause? IF so, set the isa services to manual (or disabled) and then restart the box and see if it still takes the same period (you mut time it - perceptions won't do!) then it's not ISA.

A couple of possibles:
1 poor DNS setup
2 Wrong NIC "default". Go into "Network and dialup connections", go to ":Advanced/Advanced Settings" and ensure that your INTERNAL NIC is the 1st connection listed.

Remember document ANY changes so that if something goes awry, you can reverse them!
