We are using XML to synchronize portions of 2 databases: one on a web server and one on a local server. Unfortunately, XML cannot navigate to or from the Internet from behind ISA Proxy/Firewall. I did not develop the XML process and am in the process of catching up on XML with SQL, so I donÆt know many of the ins or outs, but IÆm told it is restricted to port 80 û ergo the conflict.

FYI: We chose XML because it allows us to use https, which SQL2k replication does not(!), and our process works quite well.

I found Proxycfg.exe at Microsoft and I'm curious if anyone has any experience with it.

Hi Sammy,

What is proxycfg.exe? I haven't run into that tool. Does it work with ISA Server?

What is the problem with XML and port 80? Just create a Protocol Rule to allow the server outbound access to HTTP.

Port 80 is open.

I believe this product was developed for a 'non-hole' in ISA, IIS or XML.

I'm willing to give the product a trial on my development server. I'm mostly curious about others experience with this 'fix', before I take the leap. (Do you trust every patch & fix from Microsoft?)
