I have a NT2000 Terminal Server (TS) sitting behind a NT2000 VPN Server (running ISA Server). I use VPN to connect to the VPN server with the XP
client, I can then ping the TS server and I can "net view" all the resources on the TS server however I can't log into the TS server with XP's RDP client - it gives me a message saying that the connection has timed out.
Even weirder is that I have beta 3 of .NET Server also running TS and I can log into it with no trouble. I can also log into the NT2000 TS server when I am at the office on the internal LAN.

I can't tell if its XP, ISA, etc but why can I see all the resources of the NT 2000 TS and I can log into the beta 3 TS but I can't log in via the NT2000 server? Also, until about a week ago, this all worked just fine.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Have you got the firewall client installed?

Ive heard that some people who upgrade to XP have problems with TS if they enable the firewall client. Im not sure what the problem is though...maybe an authentication issue?

Anyway, if youve got it enabled, try disabling it (as you wouldnt want to use it away from the office anyway).

If you havent got the client on, what about your DNS settings? Are you connecting by IP, netbios name, internal FQDN..make sure your dns is setup properly. Try TS via IP instead of name
.

What did you do a week ago that broke it??

Although I guess if you knew that you wouldnt be asking...hmmm

I presume its an internal IP your connecting to, not an external. I.e ive seen where if you have a service (e.g web server) server published out on ISA, then you VPN in and try to connect via the external IP it wont work...are you using internal IP?
