Hi,

Does anybody know how to make Yahoo Messenger with the Webcam work with ISA
Server. I would like to make this work as a SecureNAT client if possible. I
have tried opening port 5100 inbound and outbound with no luck. Anybody got
any ideas?

Thanks,

Ward

HI,
You need to create the following protocol definitons (under Policy Elements):

1. Yahoo! Voice #1
TCP
Port 5001
Outbound

2. Yahoo! Voice #2
TCP
Port 5000
Outbound

3. Yahoo! Voice UDP
UDP
Port 5000
Receive Send

4. Yahoo! WebCam 1
TCP
Port 5100
Outbound

5. Yahoo Messenger Chat
TCP
Port 5050
Outbound

6. Yahoo Voice UDP 2
UDP
Port 5000
Send Receive

7. Yahoo Webcam 2
UDP
Port 5050
Receive

8. Yahoo Webcam 3
UDP
Port 5050
Send

9. Yahoo Voice UDP 3
UDP
Port 5001
Send Receive

10.Yahoo Voice UDP 4
UDP
Port 5001
Send

11. Yahoo Voice UDP 5
UDP
Port 5001
Receive

12. Yahoo Voice UDP 6
UDP
Port 5001
Receive Send

After you create these you need to add a protocol rule for them in Access Policy. It should work. Dont forget to install Firewall client in your workstation and connect Yahoo Messenger with NO PROXY.Uncheck from autoupdate option.

Iqbaljan,

Thanks for all your help - I will give it a try [Smile] Can you tell technically why the firewall client is needed - I would of thought that opening the ports you specified would work - please elaborate.

Thanks,

Ward

Hi Ward,

Technically you won't need firewall client if you create all these protocol definitions and create a protocol rule that allows access to these protocols based on IP-BASED AUTHENTICATION or ANY REQUEST. (This is necessary 'cause SNAT clients can only be authenticated based on IP and cannot pass user credentials).

You don't need firewall client since SNAT clients can take advantage of DEFINED PROTOCOL DEFINITIONS as well as firewall clients. (I hope you are aware that SNAT clients cannot take advantage of protocols not defined in protocol definitions.) Hope that makes things clear enough. HTH.

Awesome! I just tried an adaptation of this approch on ISA 2004 beta and it worked like a champ! (was not able to do video or voice before that).

Thanks!
