let's say, I'd like to add <>50 domains/urls to a destinationset. I guess would be a job for hours.

Is there any simple and aquick way like a VBS that reads url's from a txt-file and adds them to a destination set?

the SDK for ISA seems to point to scripting but the samples given in the SDK-Docu just create errors when executed...

OK, seems 2 work

created a VBS, that creates a destination-
set "banners" with Advertising URL's

now adding the new destination-set to the site and content rule saying "all destinations except selected set" = banners .....

NE 1 interrested in the VBS ?

Why can you not just post this to the board?

Would be easier for others.

Coz I'm still working on it...and don't really wanna publish something incomplete..

I guess as soon as Tom publish his VBS' in a kind of Download - Zone, you'll find it in there.

Further, this is a little way for my to see, that a few ppl are interested in it, and I'll continue extending it...

The script worked great!

I actually adapted it slightly, and then wrote a small VB program to export to it. Now whoever goes through the logs can paste the URL to be blocked (usually adult material of some sort) into the VB program, click a button to add the file to the list of URL's to be blocked, then once all URL's are added to the list, click another button that uploads the file to the server for execution by IS. Simple, but it works!

how is your browser response using this method? I use a 3rd party application which sort of does the same thing, without TOO much slowdown of outbound browsing.

I have not noticed any difference in browsing speed, although the list of blocked sites is still pretty small.

Scripting the administration of ISA is fun.
Here is a link on the msdn site that provides some good informaiton. Also, the ISA installation disk has the SDK that contains scripts that can be modified.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/isa/hh/isa/isascript_4inb.asp

We are working on the same kind of problem. Except we are trying to configure about 800 URL's into destination sets. May I get a copy of the VBS? I would be very interested in seeing the code.

Hey FKryszon,
Seems like a good idea, something that we all may be able to help out with.

I would like to see what you have come up with (e-mail is fine).
Also, why don't you review the list of other popular filtering softwares, ie: Norton Internet Security filters. just an idea.

Keep this board posted on what you are up to and if we can help.

wow.
terrible mistake,
my e-mail is frihani@hotmail.com
(in my profile which doesn't seem to show)

FKryszon,
Have you considered researching existing filtering software destination sets or have you done this all from scratch?

Is the script ready to release to this board?

thanks for sharing your work
