Blackberry offers an internet service that monitors OWA to send and receive email to a their phones.

We just got ISA working with FBA and with active sync to mobile phones, however the Blackberry service would not work.   So, we created another web listener and rule... added a public IP address ... this listener uses basic auth only....

Blackberry's OWA monitoring service seems to work with this listener and rule. Security speaking, is this OK?

That's correct. It will only work with Basic for the Blackberry.
