hi, my situation is as follows, im using isaserver 2004 as a second line in defense. on the router I use port redirection for services like smtp,pop3,web etc and use the external interface of the isa for recieving all portredirections. because my isp blocks port 25 , I use a smtpserver from an external company that recieves mail for my domain and send it to my mail server on port 26. I run exchange 2003 on another than the isa 2004, so I want to publsh my exchange 2003 to external ,because otherwise my mail must be available for the internet for recieving from the external company. I use the mail publishing rule in isa2004 and I specify for the portpublishing for isa and published server both port 26. everythings works fine , but when I look in alerts , I get the error that the isa external interface cannot bind on port 26 so the publishing rule fails. when I change it to default port the rule is sucessful. and I allowed also from any allowed source port. maybe that is the reason that my mail server become available on both ports 25 and 26, but when I specify in the port range only 26 I get denied connection when I test it with telnet. so my question is why can I not publish on port 26 and why get i a denied connection when I specify only for port 26 in port range. when I use the defaults it works fine, but I don't understand when it doesn't work when I use other ports?. or are these beta behaviours? thanks ps I have to publish it on port 26 becuase it is necessary for the external company to recieve mail from instead of the default port Andy I found out myself later on:I test with publishing now again specify by ports that isa listen on port 26 and send requests to published server on port 26. I telnet on the isa server with the ip of the external interface with the command telnet 192.168.0.2 26 and i get smtp reply also mail works fine, but in alerts I get the same publishing error. I,m I right this is beta behaviour. because the binding error is not the same with the result in telnet tells me because it give response it means that the isa server can listen on port 26 and I also recieve mail on that port,so can i ignore the alert? greets andy [ May 11, 2004, 01:44 AM: Message edited by: Andrew27863 ]

Hi Andrew,
Not sure what's going on here.
What is not working for you?
Thanks! Tom

hi thomas The problem is port 26 then I get an alert that the external interface of the isa cannot bind with the local server that I want to publish on that port, but everthing works fine. What I want to know if the alerting message is betabug that I can ignore, because i get several publishing errors on port26. hope everything is more clear to you

Hi Andy,
It must be a beta error. There shouldn't be any problems if you want to publish TCP port 26. I'll have to check it out on subsequent builds and see if the same thing happens there.
HTH, Tom
