I have a discussion forum behind the isa firewall. The loggged in user needs to be tied to his ip address for authentication purposes. The way the forum is behaving since I placed it behind the firewall is leading me to believe that everyone is beign assigned the ip address of the isa server. Is thier a way around this? Thanks Steve

Hi Steve, If this is a web based forum and you are using Web Publishing rules, it will not work. You can use server publishing rules and maintain the correct source IP address. HTH< Tom ------------------ Tom Shinder http://www.isaserver.org/shinder/ Get it Here!

Thanks Tom that did the trick. Now my email from the forum doesn't work. It uses a cgi script that access' a email server that resides behind the firewall with the forum itself. This worked before I placed everything behind the firewall, now I get a script error telling me the connect failed. I got your book from amazon this monday. From what I have reviewed so far it seems like it is going to be a big help. Conscise and easy to understand. Great job on yours and Debra's part. Thanks Steve

Hi Steve, Thanks for the kind words about the book! And don't forget Martin Grasdal! He kept us honest throughout the project, and was responsible for a lot of the insider's tips and tricks. RE: the mail server. Make sure the mail server has access to a Protocol Rule that allows outbound SMTP. Also, if it is an IIS 5.0 SMTP server, make sure that it has access to TCP 53 outbound for DNS queries. HTH, Tom ------------------ Tom Shinder http://www.isaserver.org/shinder/ Get It Here
