FTP Proxy not working - 17.Jul.2002 5:56:00 PM

I have read some of the other posts and have checked that Enable folder view for FTP sites is enabled in the advanced browser settings.

My problem seems to be however, my web proxy client is trying to access the FTP site directly instead of via the proxy. The firewall logs show the request for the ftp site is from the client rather than my ISA Array.

btw it is a cache mode only array.

I am using auto configuration of the proxy settings via the WPAD entry in DNS but it makes no difference if I specify my load balanced array address or even an individual member of the array.

My ISA's only have one interface each.

Can anyone help. I'm stuck.

TIA

Vald

Hi Vald,

If its a caching only array, the only way the client is going to access the FTP site is via the browser and the Web Proxy service.

Tom,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm aware the only way my clients will be able to access FTP is via the web browser. The problem is that doesn't seem to be working.

I have some non ISA firewalls that report the ftp request has come directly from the client rather than via the proxy although the clients are presumably configured to use the ISA's for ftp access via the autoconfiguration from the WPAD process.

The non ISA firewalls are configured to only allow the ISA servers ftp access.

Hi Vald,

How is your network set up? If things are put together right, the only way the clients will be able to access the upstream firewalls is through the ISA Server's Web Proxy service.

Thanks!

Tom

I got it to work by allowing FTP download only in my protocol rule as well as FTP and unchecking the enable folder view setting.

Hi Vald,

That would do it! Good to hear you got it working.

Thanks!
