I am installing ISA in an exisiting environment. All the clients including the email server have a public IP address. So the mail servers MX record points to the external IP. I want the Mail server to be behind the ISA server, is it possible? If so do I need to change the MX record to the router IP address, and then forward the SMTP and other mail ports to the internal address?

Thanks Sooo much for any advice..
Patrick

Hi Patrick,

the mail server MX record should indeed point to the ISA external IP-address. In order to 'forward' the external mail to the internal mail server, you should make the internal mail server a SecureNAT client and server publish him.

For more info how to do this, check out the ISA helpfile and http://www.isaserver.org/pages/learning%20zone.htm .

HTH,
Stefaan
