coffeehigh -> Best web filter?? (31.Jan.2003 8:08:00 PM)

I have just recently purchased ISA Server 2000 for the company that I work for and now the owener would like to restrict sites using key works like "Sex and porno" but keep the educational content like "sexual reproduction" (It is a private high school). Any ideas on any program that integrates with ISA that will filter on keywords instead of pre-defined databases? Any help would be appreciated.

There are many applications that use a database that claim to allow educational sites through.
Just to name a few:

They all work pretty well, but you would have to test and see which is the best fit for your application. Some will let you filter by text on the page or the URL, but not all of them do.

Hope this helps.

Note: With SurfControl, there is a pre-defined database; however, you can make exceptions. It could get messy if you had to make a lot of exceptions, of course. You would also setup a scheduled job that downloads the latest category database. For the most part, it works well, but the best suggestion is to evaluate the product(s) in-house to see what the best option is for your environment.

Good luck.
