I have a very simple network all on one subnet and have an ISA server which is functioning fine, untill I try to set up the VPN. When using the wizard on the ISA server to set up the VPN it starts the RRAS service, as soon as the service starts it kills internet access for all users. As soon as I stop the RRAS service the internet starts working. Please Help!

The ISA server is setup as a member server only.

This happened to me once, and i had to call MS to get a vbs script to put back the dependency services that RRAS relies on. I would post it up on the message board, but i cant find anything that will let me post it. If you want i will email it to you. Your problem is the same one i had.

I ran the vbs script and got the following message "Microsoft ISA Control service is already a RRAS dependency" The same thing is hapening. Whenever the RRAS service is started the internet does not work, as soon as I stop the RRAS service the internet is on.

I took down the ISA server reinstalled W2K server and ISA server set up internet access, Published a Mail server and opened up the server for internet email(pop3 and smtp trafic). Everything worked fine. I then started to set up the vpn ran the first VPN wizard, it started RRAS. I then checked a machine on the LAN and internet access was down. I went into services stoped RRAS and then checked the internet it was working again. Please Help!

Same situation, Same Problem.

Three server network with ISA publishing web servers and allowing internet access. ISA is a member server.

RRAS turned on and DNS goes crazy.
RRAS turned off and everything is O.K.

Still seeking solution.... [Confused]

We're having the same problem. Up until now VPN was a luxury because most connections to the office are through PCAnywhere. But now we have a client that must use VPN and it's getting nerve racking. [Mad]

Any help to resolve this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi you guys. A friend of mine was having this problem and the way I fixed it was when you configure RRAS and it asks which adpter your internet is on, don't choose anything! Leave it unasigned. Then you will find that you can start RRAS and still have access to the big bad world

All you have to do is disable the QoS Packet Scheduler on the external NIC of the ISA server. Go to the Properties of the NIC and remove the checkmark next to the QoS Packet Scheduler. That should solve the problem.

That is in fact the second one I read. The first one was that RRAS/VPN disabled the default gateway and you have to define in RRAS also the default gateway.

Hmmm... wonder if it was exactly the same issue.

Try checking out the routing table
you might find that the 0.0.0.0 missing or
pointing to the wrong gateway
if the entry is wrong delete it using >ROUTE DELETE , then add a static persistent route
using >ROUTE ADD -P 0.0.0.0 MASK 0.0.0.0 GW-IP

I have the same exact problem. First users are d/c then internet comes back for like 5 mins, then disconnects. Its a cycle.

Anyone find a real solution to this? QOS is disabled.
