Hi,
I'm trying ISA as a multi function server.
Firewall, files&print, dhcp, wins, caching of course and download server. And this over ADSL on a tweaked Alcatel home modem. (NAT)
So its the only PC @ home which is on always.
Is this possible?
I spend 2 days making winmx or edonkey work, no success. With MS proxy 2 is was easy, but isa is different!
But my Q, is it possible? And how?
I have 'the book' and a lot of experience with ms proxy 2...

It is possible.

Create a protocol rule to allow all IP traffic out.

Install the firewall client on the machine you want to run the filesharing apps from (don't install the firewall client on the ISA itself)

Enjoy.

I did the protocol rule, but on the isa server self i want to run all the file sharing software.
But without the firewall client nothing works.

not possible?

for now i went back to ms proxy 2 in which it was possible...

if your running the software on the ISA server itself, the firewall client isn't an option.
Perhaps you could create a protocol rule to allow all tcp out, and one to allow all udp out.

any software program that supports socks4 can be run on the isa server but you must have the socks4 filter enabled. There is no need to making these protocol rules others speak of.

winmx supports proxy4. It will run on the isa server without the need of a protocol rule.
