is easy actually.

you have to have create 2 sets of rules for Dungeon Siege

For playing outbound: Disable the FW client

Dungeon Siege (UDP 2300)
port 2300, udp, send receive

Dungeon Siege (UDP 6073)
port 6073, udp, send receive
port 0, udp, receive
port 2302-2400, udp, send receive

For inbound hosting:

Dungeon Siege (UDP 2300)

Primary:
port 2300, udp, receive send

Dungeon Siege (UDP 6073)

Primary:
port 6073, udp, receive send

Secondary:
port 2302-2400, udp, receive send

Primary:
port 2302 udp, receive send

Secondary:
port 2302-2400, udp, receive send

Once created you can publish server, internal IP should be the machine hostin & external should be the Internet NIC IP. Make a Publishing rule for each of the inbound rules. So there should be 3 rules created.

Works gr8 for me & numerous players. =)

Hi

I tried you settings for playing to connect to the Game Zone (?) but I can not connect. I can now see the servers but connecting fails (message can not connect to game). I am trying to connect via ISA client with FW client enabled. Disabling the FW client gives me a connection error imediately upon startup and I can not even see the servers.
Any ideas what might be wrong?

The FW log looks like this (I removed some fields):

dungeonsiege.zone.com 207.46.204.132 - 110 - - - - GHBN 0 2 0

dungeonsiege.zone.com 207.46.204.132 - - - - - - GHBN 0 2 0

- - - - - - 0 UDP Bind 0 2 1

- 207.46.204.132 2300 - - - 2300 UDP UdpMap 0 2 1

autoupdate.zone.com 207.46.204.130 - 161 - - - - GHBN 0 2 0

- 207.46.204.130 80 - - - 80 TCP Connect 0 2 2

- 207.46.204.130 80 1071 - 139 80 TCP Connect 20000 2 2

autoupdate.zone.com 207.46.204.130 - - - - - - GHBN 0 2 0

- 207.46.204.130 80 - - - 80 TCP Connect 0 2 3

- 207.46.204.130 80 992 - 125 80 TCP Connect 20000 2 3

- - - - - - 0 UDP Bind 0 2 4

- 203.218.69.110 6073 350 - - 6073 UDP UdpMap 0 2 4

- 203.218.69.110 2302 - - - 2302 UDP UdpMap 0 2 4

- 203.218.69.110 2302 - - 168 2302 UDP UdpMap 20000 2 4

- 203.218.69.110 6073 831 21 - 6073 UDP UdpMap 20000 2 4

- - - 831 21 168 0 UDP Bind 20000 2 4

Thanks for any advise!

Hopfully this will help, I checked this out at Microsoft, and you can find thier official help on Dungeon Siege Multiplayer here. There's a few notes about connecting to the Zone along with a link for DirectPlay ports.

I've only tried the demo myself and I was just trying to connect with a friend via IP (The "Internet" item on the DS main menu) and it wasn't working. I'll try all of the above advice and see if it helps.

Please also reply if you get it working [Smile]

jgisler,

You state that you need to disable the firewall client for outbound playing, and the last line is to allow a port range of 2302-2400.

From what I understand, if you disable the FW client you can't have secondary connections, and you can only specify port ranges with secondary connections. This seems to mean you'd have to create protocol definitions for each port between 2302 and 2400!

Please correct me if I'm wrong [Frown] .

I'm getting the info on SecureNAT clients from this article in the Learning Zone. Here's the actual quote:

Protocol availability - SecureNAT clients can only use those protocols that are:
1. Simple protocols (no secondary connections)
2. Listed in Policy Elements, Protocol definitions
3. Allowed in Access Policy, Protocol Rules
4. Not restricted by user or group through Access Policy, Site and Content Rules

wrong. I've setup numerous game servers now from behind ISA. I have had NO issues connecting to them. It worx like a charm. Dungeon seige you have to use static IP's on your NICs. No DHCP.
