In case anyone has doubts, I have gotten World of Warcraft ( WoW ) to work behind ISA 2000...

Basically, if you could download the beta from them you should be able to play it.

I have two Definitions Dedicated to it. (If other Rules affect it, I don't know - if you have problems, let me know.)
code:

Definition 1:
Primary Port:
3724 TCP Outbound
Secondary Ports:
3724 TCP Inbound
6881-6889 TCP Outbound
6881-6889 TCP Inbound
.
Definition 2:
Primary Port:
6112 TCP Outbound
Secondary Ports:
6112 TCP Inbound
6881-6889 TCP Outbound
6881-6889 TCP Inbound

Put them both in an allow rule and all is good =)

I'll admit, I don't yet know which is for the BitTorrant Download and which was for the Game. When I get time I'll figure it out and update this....

After reading your post and this page from Blizzard I got WoW to work behind ISA by modifying your first definition:

Definition 1:
Primary Port:
3724 TCP Outbound
Secondary Ports:
3724 TCP Inbound

As you can see from the Blizzard page the 6000 ports are for the downloader. I have not actually tried to play the game yet, but I did get the character screen so everything seemed to be working. Thanks for the initial post. It got me going in the right direction.

Eh, Blizzard updated their webpage =)
Thanks!

Also, Blizzard changed the download so it doesn't use the standard BitTorrant Ports, it uses a little more now...

The New Rules:
code:
Definition 1: (Game play)
Primary Port:
3724 TCP Outbound
Secondary Ports:
3724 TCP Inbound
Definition 2: (WoW web update)
Primary Port:
6112 TCP Outbound
Secondary Ports:
6112 TCP Inbound
6881-6999 TCP Outbound
6881-6999 TCP Inbound

I can't seem to get this to work in ISA 2004, looking at packet captures after the rules are applied, I see the server sending out connection requests to WoW but getting no replies.

Any ideas?

If anyone saw my previous post (pre-edit) about this not working please ignore it.

The info above still works if you type in the port numbers correctly... DOH!

It's amazing how blizzard made their first mmorpg game use only one primary port under tcp for communication, which, I believe, happens to be the same port for battle.net, whilst sony's Star Wars Galaxies and Final Fantasy XI use over 20000 primary ports for communication, if not more. I question why such a difference between the two. Perhaps WoW offers less communication options as opposed to the sony products?

Good day Majestic,

You can get it to work through ISA 2004 all you need to do is look under monitoring and you will see the ports being blocked form the respective IP address in turn you can create a rule that will allow the traffic through.

what are the steps for the creation of these rules in ISA Server 2006?

I do not have much experience with ISA Server 2006 and not as creating them ...
