hello everybody. I have a problem with sp1 on a an isa2004 standard machine with sp1 installed. After I installed the servicepack for w2k3 on the isa machine I'm not able to start a rdp session from an xp clientI get the message that connection is not accepted or the machine is busy. When uninstalled the servicepack from the isa machine , the problem is gone and I can make rdp session to the isa machine. The strange thing is that I also installed servicepack 1 on a dc withhout any problems to make rdp connections. So I think the problem is related to the isa machine and sp1. It looks like some restriction or blocking is made to the isa machine. till now the only solution I found is not to install the sp1 to make rdp sessions work. Have anybody similar problems or suggestions to solve this issue? [ August 07, 2005, 11:10 AM: Message edited by: Andrew27863 ]

I have same problem. Event IDs in System Log on reboot: 7, 5719 & 5783 These events are not registered in two scenarios 1. If "Microsoft Firewall" Service is not running. 2. If I uninstall W2k3 SP1 Everyone seems to be selecting 2nd Option. Do we have anyother solution? - Sam

Has anyone ever came up with a valid resolution for these errors; the 7, 5719, and 5783 that are popping up in the system logs? I am managing multiple networks that utlize ISA Servers running ISA Server 2004, and each one of them is generating the same errors. Thanks for any info.

I have those errors, too and I just re-installed my ISA-box (We did a hardware upgrade. It was a light desktop-box before and now it's a light server-box). PS : I think that we should have a separate section for events special to ISA scenarios. Eventid.net is not so helpful in such situations. I hardly saw there any solutions related to ISA servers.

Hi, Still nothing ? It seems like they didn't solve it with ISA 2004 SP2, too. Don't they (The mighty MS clan) see that there's a problem with their service packs ? I don't like the idea of uninstalling any service packs to solve such problems. PLease inform us if you can find any solution to this problem. Thanks in advance

Hi, I have the same error, EventID 5783 The session setup to the Windows NT or Windows 2000 Domain Controller \\XXXXXXX for the domain XXXXXX is not responsive. The current RPC call from Netlogon on \\XXXXX to \\XXXXXXXXX has been cancelled. This is after the following process on a clean installation of windows: Install Windows Server 2003 Restart following completion Install ISA2004 Standard Reboot Install ISA2004 SP1 Reboot Install ISA2004 SP2 Reboot Install Windows Server 2003 SP1 Reboot Login and Reboot again The event error only started appearing after the install of Win 2003 SP1. I have since uninstalled Win 2003 SP1 and I still get the error for some reason. Thanks Andy

I just did a second reboot after the uninstall of Server 2003 and this seems to have got rid of the Event error. I just phoned Micrsoft for the hotfix KB899148. This predates ISA2004 SP2 but I thought I would give it a go, I will reinstall 2003 SP1 and the Hotfix and let you know how I get on. Thanks Andy

This may seem stupid but have you checked your System Polices to make sure everything is set properly? I'm running SP2 + rollup on all of my servers and don't have this problem at all.

Hi Rick, I ahve had a look through the system policies, they all look set sensibly, the only thing I can see that may make a difference is under Active Directory in System Policies, I have Enforce Strict RPC Compliance Ticked. Do you have this ticked? I take it you are running Server 2003 SP1? I have just rebuilt the server as part of a DR test, it works well without 2003 SP1 on it, so I am a bit hesitant to install it in case the setting above makes no difference! Thanks Andy

Hi everyone, What to do when we use 2003 Server Standard R2 which integrates the SP1 (my case) ? There is no way to install ISA before 2003 SP1. Is this a problem of 2003 Server or ISA 2004 ?

Hi, Strangely enough I am getting these errors on my ISA, I only rebuilt it this morning, it has not had 2003 SP1 put on it, just ISA 2004, ISA 2004 SP1 and ISA 2004 SP2. Very strange Andy

Has anyone thought about installing ISA 2004 firewall after applying windows 2003 SP1? This is how I am planning to setup one of my ISA servers nextweek. 1) Install windows 2003 2) Install W2K3 SP1 3) Apply all the recent W2k3 patches and hotfixes 4) Join the w2k3 to the domain as a member server. 5) Install W2k3 admin support tools. Run dcdiag and netdiag. Varify that everthing is fine. 5) Install ISA 2004 6) Install ISA SP2 7) Scan the server for patches or hotfixes. 8) Run Windows 2003 SP1 security wizard and select the ISA firewall security template. 9) Allow all traffic for outbound. Check to make sure outbound traffic flows without a problem. 10) Start configuring ISA. *I won't recommend using ISA firewall policy templates. They create problems than helping you with the server configuration.

Well, eliminating that step would stop the error messages, eh? :-) Here's the order I did just this past weekend: 0) Updated all firmware 1) Install windows 2003 2) Join the w2k3 to the domain as a member server. 3) Install ISA 2004 4) Install ISA SP2 + post-SP2 hotfix 5) Install W2K3 SP1 6) Apply all the recent W2k3 patches and hotfixes 7) Scan the server for patches or hotfixes. 8) Imported the configuration I had built on a test server. On my test server, I did use a Select CD that already had Windows 2003 SP1 as part of it. I just installed ISA 2004 followed by SP2 & the hotfix before I imported the policy. I had no errors or anything on it and I ran it for a few months as my primary connection. Ray

That 916106 or whatever it was. It fixed several problems where ISA 2004 SP2 was denying web sites because of misconfigurations on their server or HTTP compression issues. It was strictly ISA-related. Ray

ORIGINAL: erickufrin I dont know what to tell you about it then. As I said I will be redoing all my setup this weekend and will let you know if I experience any problems. I just setup a fresh copy of 2K3 SP1 on vmware session and I am getting a warning in my application log after creating a new domain. MSDTC Service warning 1: MS DTC could not correctly process a DC Promotion/Demotion event. MS DTC will continue to function and will use the existing security settings. Error Specifics: d:\srvrtm\com\complus\dtc\dtc\adme\uiname.cpp:9280, Pid: 1516 No Callstack, CmdLine: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msdtc.exe MSDTC Service warning 2: MS DTC could not correctly process a DC Promotion/Demotion event. MS DTC will continue to function and will use the existing security settings. Error Specifics: %1 I am already starting to be disappointed with SP1... You'd think they would get it right after taking a 1 1/2 years... With regards to the PAC verification issue. Have you tried changing the RPC system policy to not enable Strict Enforcement? Eric Kufrin Do you have promoted (dcpromo) the computer after a sysprep/rename of computer? If so... Run DCOMCNFG Right click on COMPONENT SERVICES->COMPUTERS->MY COMPUTERS, then PROPERTIES Select the MSDTC tab... then click on SECURITY CONFIGURATION. Click OK (twice) and restart ... After the restart, take a look on event viewer, you should find a MSDTC event (INFO) saying that MSDTC has finished the DCPROMO...
