Fantastic news! My configuration has the ISA 2004 as the permiter firewall, and I double checked the "Requests For The Published Server" rule on the H.323 Protocol and my setup has the requests coming from the ISA server computer.

Here's to hoping <ktech> can make the same configuration change and get it working as well!

By the way, check out this post for a simple .ASP page that can auto-publish CallTO urls for any users registered with the Gatekeeper. [Big Grin]

Got it working!
Change Requests appear to come from the ISA Server computer: Yes to "requests appear to come from original client" I am thinking Number51's network configuration is different - are you using a DMZ or just a perimerter firewall?

My setup is configured as a Back Firewall, I will attemp to change the config, but I need to find time after ours to make the change, also need to backup my current config first. Hope it works, and I'll get back to let you know.

tshinder: Thanks for the props!

Mike: Not too sure about that, probably have to purchase the whole deal. But this scenario should work with any other Gatekeeper. There's a couple fairly cheap out there, as well as one open-source version. It's all about published communications standards, so i see no reason why it wouldn't work. Here's OpenH323 Gatekeeper which is free.

ISAwader: Let me know how it works out for you!

Hi Guest,

Thanks!

Make sure the internal clients that are being called have the Firewall client installed and have an outbound "all open" rule accessible to them. Let me know if that works.

thanks!
Tom

When I type in the callto statement from a remote machine at the start/run line (callto:"30+type=phone+gateway=68.16.148.11+secure=false+av=false+h323=false")
It connects and everything works great! however, when I embed the line

<a href="callto:30+type=phone+gateway=68.16.148.11+secure=false+av=false+h323=false"> in my web page and click on it from the same machine I tested the start/run statement from I get "The person is not able to accept Netmeeting calls"

baffling!! What could I be doing wrong?

Thanks in advance

Mstrmp3

make the following change to your link:

<a href="callto:%2230+type=phone+gateway=68.16.148.11+secure=false+av=false+h323=false%22">

the %22's will insert the proper quotes into the link. once you get that in, should work a charm!

Well I've configured it to the tee exactly as per above but I cannot get Inbound Netmeeting to work properly. Here's my scenario and config:

Tri-homed network (internal, dmz and external)
x1 ISA 2004 server
x1 ISA 2000 server (H.323 gatekeeper and manager only) on our internal network segment
split brain DNS (external DNS lies in our DMZ)

DNS registration on our external DNS: for the directory service Q931:1720 with a hostname that basically resolves to the external interface of the ISA 2004 server (for the publishing rule below)

H.323 Publishing rule on ISA 2004:  from anywhere to ISA 2000 GK with 'Requests Appear to come from the ISA computer' (I tried both) using the H.323 protocol definition (tcp inbound: 389, 1503, 1720).

H.225 Access Rule on ISA 2004: Allow H.225 from Local Host (ISA 2004) to GK (ISA 2000) using the H.225 protocol definition (UDP send/receive 1718-19).

The gatekeeper properties are as expected and everything appears as expected in terms of Destinations and Active Terminals.

I configured the external Netmeeting client using the G/W (external interface of ISA 2004) and enter the registered phone number that the GK holds but get an error "The Other Party Did Not Accept Your Call". On the ISA 2004 trace I can see the H.323 connection on port 1720 and then it closes. I can't see what I've missed here..?!? Shouldn't the Publishing Rule have kicked in here and 'forwarded' the request on port 1720 to my ISA 2000 GK ? And where does the access rule fit in to all this (which allows H.225 from ISA 2004 to the ISA GK (2000) ?

If I set up a general rule to allow H.323 outbound from Internal to External then the inbound netmeeting connection works just fine (even without the publishing or access rules above).

We want to be able to initiate and receive Netmeeting sessions to/from external users and this was the only reference I could find with any real substance. I think we're almost there but something is obviously amiss so some advice would be very much appreciated...
