We have two 2004 enterprise servers (identical hw) in an array with NLB. We have 4 nic's, one for internal, external, array communications and a public for contractors,etc.

Everything seems to work fine as long as the 1st server with the database on it is running. If it fails everything stops... I though the 2nd server should keep working with its current database and nlb should pickup the connections that were going to the other box?

Yes, that is how its supposed to work.

What client types are you using?

Our clients are a mixture of a few firewall client and mostly proxy clients.

So is the "everything stops" the way it supposed to work or that the 2nd server should keep running on the last config it has, the "how its supposed to work"
