2 x ISA Server and Exchange... - 28.Oct.2004 9:33:00 PM

Now, I need some "ISA Server expert help"...

I have recently installed a secondary Exchange server in my Active Directory
domain, and have a annoying problem... users on the new server cannot send
mail to other users locally, remote nor themselfes. So, obviously there is
some lack of core functionality... :-)

The goal for the new server (server1) is to replace the old (server2).

The environment looks like this:

Server 1:
Windows Server 2003
Exchange 2003
ISA Server 2004
multihomed (internal, external)
DNS

Server 2:
Windows 2000 Server
Exchange 2000
ISA Server 2000
multihomed (internal, external)
DNS

The servers recides in the same Active directory and share the same internal
and external LAN.

Note: No DNS entries that are registred for the external ip adresses are
refeering to the AD servernames.

The following error messages are registred in the eventlog:

On server 1 (Windows 2003):

ISA server should be installed in your DMZ zone, MTA RPC errors represents networking issue. Uninstall ISA server from server1 and check mail flow.

Hi Daniel,

If the Exchange Server is installed on an ISA firewall, that's defintiely NOT a supported scenario. Get the enterprise groupware off the network firewall and things will work fine.

HTH,
Tom
