I have ISA 2004 on Server 2003. I have been trying to allow my clients to FTP Out with no success. Right now, my first rule is Any User - FTP Protocol - From Internal - To External.

From a DOS box I can connect to a site and logon, but when I try to do a "ls" or "dir", the connection fails.

I am using the FTP Filter because I thought that was supposed to handle all the port negatiations, etc.

Any ideas?

Hi Wanman,

What sites are giving you a problem?

Thanks!
Tom

Turned out to be pretty silly.

I have been believing in the "Apply" button. This one was driving me nuts, so I rebooted. All rules are now behaving as they should be.

Hi WANMAN,

Ha! Yes, the Apply button does apply the new configuration, but only to new sessions. The ISA firewall won't tear down existing sessions, so that your boss doesn't fire you if he's in the middle of a 900MB download [Big Grin]

HTH,
Tom
