I have none of the ports opened that they everyone has listed, our PCA works just fine. We only have 11 paket filters in place and most of them are for ICMP. We have two protocol rules, one for our full access group, and one for our limited access group and the site and protocol rules for each group, and that is it, everything seems to work great.

I struggled with this problem for some time before discovering that the internal PCAnywhere client, or any app that requires connections on secondary ports, MUST be running the firewall client in order for this to work. I installed the firewall client and have had no problems since.

Hi DCC, BINGO! If you require secondary connections you must use the Firewall client. The only exception to this is when there is an Application Filter in place that supports the SecureNAT client. HTH, Tom ------------------ http://www.isaserver.org/shinder/ Get It Here!

I know this an old thread, but I have recently implemented ISA Server and needed to allow pcAnywhere 9.2 to connect to a remote host from behind the ISA Server. I followed the protocol defintions and rule recommend by Tom Shinder, but unfortunately, like so many other users, this did not work for me. After reviewing log entries, it appeared that incoming UDP traffic to port 5632 was being blocked. I decided to modify my protocol definition for that port from Send, to SendReceive. This modification corrected my problem. So I have: TCP 5631 Outbound TCP 5632 Outbound UDP 5631 Send UDP 5632 SendReceive All of the above definitions are included in a single protocol rule. I haven't found any good documentation that defines the implications of the UDP direction choices, but this seemed like an reasonable setting under the circumstances. Hope this helps someone else.
