Hi,

I got a problem with SurfControl for ISA 2004.

If i do activate for all Rules, and the first rules is DISALLOW.
All my client will receive DENIED ACCESS.

But if i do move the ALLOW Rules on the first spot.
Everybody will be able to surf...

But without any restrictions...

(notice : All the rules are set as the default installation)

It seam that surfcontrol do not do the job ?

Any ideas ?

thanks

Bogus,

Your SurfControl lists are done in order.  The last rule in your list should be your deny all rule (the most restrictive).  This works almost exactly like ISA 2000/2004 for your network rules.

Here is an example of a rule set for SurfControl (in order from top to bottom):

1.  Disalow: access to certain sites (sex, drugs, violence, etc.)
2.  Allow:  All authenticated users.
3.  Disallow:  All users that don't meet rules above (most restrictive rule).

This is just an example but I think you will get the idea from it.  I use SurfControl for ISA 2004 and it does work pretty good.  The reporting leaves some to be desired and so does the update of the URL database but other than that it's not bad.

Hope that helps some...

Nick
