Hi Sunny, At the ISA firewall console, when you ping the name on the TO tab, it must resolve to the IP address of the Web site on the internal network -- that is to say, the Web site's internal address. HTH, Tom

Hi Tom Why does it resolve to the external? Or does it has anything to do with fact that i do not have split DNS? (ie have only one DNS and internal loop back through external for the moment until i implement split DNS!) I am sorry but I am a novice in these settings and i am trying to find my way around!! thanks andrew

Hi Andrew, Yes, you do a need split to make things work right. However, you can get around that requirement by creating a HOSTS file entry on the ISA firewall. HTH, Tom

Hi Tom I created a HOSTS file, a file with IPs and computer names (internal network), which I palce in the directory Windows\system32\drivers\etc ..... Still things have remain pretty the same, And I am now frequenlty getting this error: The Web proxy failed to bind its socket to [internal ip) port 80 .... restart the firewall service ... Error: 0x8007271d Same message appears for the external interface.. thanks andrew

Hi Andrew, OK, it look like your installation is really bad broken. It might be worth your while to check out the deployment and setup guides or the book and start from the beginning and get things right. I've found that when things are broken in multiple places, its likely that it'll be broken in many more places and we end up chasing bugs for the lifetime of the box. HTH, Tom

Hi Andrew, Great! Make sure not to installing anything other than Windows and ISA firewall software. No IIS, no SMTP, no add-ons, no nothing. Let us know what happens. Thanks! Tom
