Hey Everyone,

We have about 600 computers with about 1200 users across our Windows 2003 network and we are using ISA 2004 with Firewall client installed on every machine. I wish to create a report on what sites our users access. The report needs to contain there username as well. Can this be done with ISA 2004?

Cheers,

Mark

Hi Mark:

That information is mainly in the Web Proxy logs.  Hopefully your users' browsers are configured as proxy clients and the ISA Server is configured to require authentication for HTTP/FTP access to the Internet.

If you're logging to textual logs, a complete report of every file downloaded by every user would just be idential to the log files themselves (probably not what you want).  If you want to quickly see what a particular user is browsing, just use FIND or FINDSTR to extract lines from the text logs which contains that person's username.  If you want to run custom reports that generate summary data which can be imported into Excel, try using SQL queries with the free Microsoft Log Parser tool (www.logparser.com).  You can find a bunch of example SQL queries for ISA logs inside the script named ISA_LogParser.vbs at www.ISAscripts.org for free.

Hope this helps!
