I installed Small Business Server 2003 Premium , and an ISA Server 2000 on a computer (both are clean install from the Premium cds). In the computer there are 2 lan cards, both network cards are integrated on the (GIGABYTE) Motherboard. External network card connected directly to the adsl modem. (No ADSL router). PPPoe is used to connect to internet. The problem is the following: I ran icw. If i turn off the local network, the internet works, i can login to isp. After successful login to internet, i enabled the lan card, it works good. If i disconnect, and I try to login manually to isp, the adsl login dialog box has user name/password edit boxes. (It works good.)
Next time, when the network card for the internal network is enabled and i try to connect to the internet, it doesnt connect to internet at all, it cant login to isp. If I try to login manually to isp, the dsl login window has user name/password edit boxes, and another box, for the domain. It is empty by default, and I leave it blank. If the network card for the internal network is enabled, then it doesnt accept the password to connect to internet via adsl. The problem seems like that it wants to use the user name/password to adsl somewhere in the internal network. It seems that it doesnt want to use the external card to login to adsl.
The network card for the internal network settings: ipaddress: 192.168.1.100 mask: 255.255.255.0 DNS: 192.168.1.100 default gateway: 192.168.1.100
The network card for the external network assigned by dhcp server. It gets settings from dhcp.
What can be the problem? Please help me, it is urgent.... THanks...
Your external NIC should be a stactic IP address. When you run the wizzard you should be able to put in all the information for authenticating to theADSL and you should not have to authenticate again.
for internal network setting only IP / subnet , and DNS if you are running it in your network , if you are not running DNS inside your nework don't configure DNS for your internal NIC.
for ISA machine itself configure IE to use intrnal NIC IP as proxy , and i mean IP not machine name.
