Virtual Hosting and Cache Problems - 17.Jan.2006 12:04:53 AM

I am using ISA 2004 EE and have a problem with ISA giving web proxy clients (not sure if secureNAT or firewall clients are the same) the wrong content based on cache.

If a webserver is doing virtual hosting, ISA will cache the first webpage on the webserver it encounters.  When we go to another website hosted on the same server, I get the cached content of the first Website.  Not until the client does ctrl + F5 can we get the 2nd website.  There is no cache on the client computer.

Here is an example to better illustrate the problem:

2 domain hosted on 1 webserver, same IP address for both

Client goes to www.domain1.com ISA retreives request and cache's content

Client goes to www.domain2.com ISA gives cached content of www.domain1.com

I assume because they both use the same IP address that ISA is getting confused and sending the wrong cached content.

I checked DNS entries of some of the affected sites and the DNS is proper.  Like i said, once the client uses ctrl+ F5 the proper content is displayed.

Anyone else had an issue like this?

ISA 2004 EE SP2 seems to have fixed the problem.  I will report back if anything changes.

Well I was wrong, SP2 did not fix the problem, probably the reboot just flushed the cache out of memory from being servered to the clients.  The problem was reported again a few days later and I have tried different varriations of cache settings and TTL's with no results.  Anyone have any suggestions???
