hi all

we have to following network around here.

internet --> hardware firewall ---> core switch ---> servers/clients

we want to instal an isa2004 server so we can block and filter the internet on the school.

but is it possible to hang the isa server on the core switch or do i have to put the isa server after the firewall.

option 1

internet --> hardware firewall ---> core switch ---> servers/clients/isaserver

or has it to be option 2

internet --> hardware firewall ---> isa server ---> core switch ---> servers/clients

and when we apply option one is everything automaticly routed true the isa server or do i have to do that.

a second question is i know u can import/export rules but is it also possible to export an entire isa configuration

Hi Joris,

How about this configuration:

Internet-->ISA firewall-->core switch-->clients/servers

"hardware firewall"-->eBay

I find this is often the more secure config and pays for a nice weekend in Tahiti

HTH,
Tom

Forget Tahiti, the old hardware firewall becomes a good educational tool. We open them up and disect them.

Hey John,

That's a great idea! Maybe use the case for a file server or something.

Thanks!
Tom
