Lets start a mutual admiration society here. :p

I agree with you here that MS is entirely to blame both for the confusing KB and for not making it default or at lease exposing the setting in the GUI.  In fact there are so many reg hacks needed for ISA that they should either release a TweakUI for it or bring out FR1.

Did anyone come up with a solution for this?

I am having the same issue with firefox and ISA SP1.  My ISA server is also uni-homed and we use a PIX for our firewall and only the ISA server is allowed out.

The user has his firefox connection settings set to manual but no connection (proxy) information has been set and when I open firefox I get right out to the internet.

Hi Stryder,

You're better of moving the "hork mode" config (unihomed) questions into the Web cache section.
