This is for Dr. Shinder:

I noticed that you have done a review of the HP ProLiant DL320 Firewall/VPN/Cache Server.  I was wondering if you have done a similar review of the Network Engines NS Series Appliances?

Thanks

Hi nesivos,

Yes, but it was published in Windows IT Pro magazine last year as a summer supplement.

    Dr. Shinder:

Thank you for your response.  Unfortunately a membership to the website which I don't have, is needed to access the article.

As you mentioned in your response your review was done late last spring and published laste summer when they were developing the product.

I don't believe that at that time Network Engines had developed their proprietory software "NEWS" for use with their appliance.  It might be worth revisiting the product for an updated review provided you have the time.

Thanks

Nesivos

Just an FYI, but we're waiting for a bug fix to address the 1 to 1 failover with these appliances.  There also seems to be a lot of undocumented things you need to know in order to setup them up correctly (guest account config, additional ssl ports, to name a few).  Hopefully, they release a much more useful set of administrative documentation in the near future.

Have they indicated whether they intend to improve the doucumentation?

May I ask what company you work for and which model NS Appliance you are using?

Is this one from 2005 or is it one that you purchased this year?

Thanks
