Can anyone give me specific details on what exactly 'Advanced Logging' does for me?? As far as I can tell the only thing it does is install and enable MSDE logging.
I have been supporting a couple of different ISA 2004 environments for the past year and here is what I've noticed: I've played with the advanced logging on and off and as far as I can tell the only ISA functionality I lose is the ability to use ISA's log query utility to query 'non-live' log data.
My next project is to deploy a 2 server, ISA Enterprise, load balanced array. We will be using a third party filtering and reporting tool for log analysis, user activity reporting etc. and I will be generating summary reports with the built in ISA reporting utility. I do use the live log query for troubleshooting connections but I've never used it to query 'non-live' log info.
In this scenario is there any benefit/need to install the 'Advanced Logging' with the MSDE?? If not, I'd just as soon leave it out, log to files and save the resources that the MSDE will use.
