Have now a problem with Windows xp sp2 activation of client PC behind the
ISA 2004 server firewall(Proxy server only) -> hangs on checking the connectivity at the
activation process.

I have been having the same problem. I know that we typically perform activation as an anonymous connection, so I tried setting up a rule to allow anonymous connections to the microsoft domain over http and https. I tried URL sets, Domain sets and Computers. The only way I could get it to work was to create a computer object with the IP address for wpa.one.microsoft.com. I couldn't use the URL or the Domain.

When monitoring the connection I could see the desktop make a broadcast for DHCP followed by an HTTP request for There does not appear to be a PTR record for this IP address. However, when I pinged wpa.one.microsoft.com that was the IP address that was resolved.

I am thinking that the domain and url methods don't work when ISA can resolve the IP address to a domain.
