ThatOtherGuy -> IRC woes (22.Aug.2006 3:02:13 PM)

I have an ISA 2004 Standard Edition machine with Websense installed. On ISA's side I have one rule...and that is to allow all traffic from Internal to External and not limiting it to any specific ports. Clients are configured as web proxy clients, even though I have tried using a gateway as well. On Websense side IRC is allowed.

The problem is I still cannot connect to IRC. In checking the logs, i get this:

12204 The specified Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port is not allowed. ISA Server is not configured to allow SSL requests from this port. Most Web browsers use port 443 for SSL requests.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

HTTPS is trying to be used on port other 443 which ISA 2004 is configured.

This will solve your problem, but you need to find out what port(s) are being used:

My goodness! Is that what must be done to get one client's IRC to work? I'm not at work at the moment, but I think it was actually trying to use port 6667, the IRC port. So now I'm not sure if I know what's going on anymore. But we strive on! Thanks.
