with the help of MS support it's now working. We had to check 'require all users to authenticate' on the advanced settings of the listener. Then it works fine. I'm still confused why it doesn't work without this setting with a PocketPC, but does work fine with a desktop pc and a nokia E70 though.

Hi,
We have the same issue, but this solution, though successful for OMA and the Pocket PC Client, means that others sites on the same listener now get a logon screen. These other sites are using the same listener because we have them published on the same IP and port and use host headers to distinguish them. But we don't want authentication on them.
So is there any other solution? Is this is case of the device not being detected correctly? Changes in Machine.config perhaps to add the device profile?
