I'm a software developer who does only as much system administration as necessary to figure out why my program doesn't work.

I have a client with a problem connecting using a web method on our server. He is using ISA. We've added an error trap in our application that tells us that ISA is denying the connection with a 407 error.

Today I installed ISA on a clean Win 2K3 Server to try to reproduce his problem - eventually I think that I'll need to change my program to use the IE Credentials - but I apparently don't have ISA set up correctly to filter the web through the proxy. If I set IE to use the proxy (localhost:8080) in Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings/Use a proxy server..., I am blocked. If I disable the "Use a proxy server...", I get connectivity.

My system configuration is such that I'm running a VMware Windows 2003 Server as the ISA box. ISA is configured as Single Network Adaptor. I've got a firewall rule that passes any in/out bound port 80 connection.

I'm sure that there is something insanely simple that I've not figured out, but I'm striking out on my own. Does anyone have a clue for me or can point me to some simple instructions on how to set this up so that I can test my problem?
