Sunny.C -> ISA Web caching (15.Nov.2006 9:12:11 PM)
Hey guys,
I will be planning on deploying ISA 2006 for my work in the next few months. I was just wondering if there is anything new or improved with ISA's web caching?? Is it still a good idea to have DNS on ISA installed as caching-only and using ISP as a forwarder? Is that no longer a good idea or really does not do much?
Thanks in advance.

DNS configuration depends on your perferences and requirements.
No changes in the Web caching feature.

Is it a good idea to use a caching DNS on ISA both for security and performance?
I have seen a certain degree of a performance boost when using caching DNS on ISA. Just wondering really how many of you actually use caching DNS and what you think of the concept.
Sunny.

Hi Sunny,
It's a good idea to use a caching DNS server, although it can be on another machine, it doesn't have to be on the ISA Firewall.

Would it not be faster response time if it on the ISA box? Is there any disadvantages of having it on ISA rather than another box?

Depends on the design. I've not noticed any perceptible differences.
