Hi there!

I need some urgent assistance. I have researched this topic on this site, and have tried everything (I think) and I have the problem. Maybe I am doing something wrong, so I would really appreciate the help!

Main problem : Outlook Client 2003 does not connect to Exchange Server, although https access works!

I have completed the following :

1. Installed certificate generated by private certification authority on local server
2. Completely followed steps detailed in Microsoft document "E2k3RPCHTTPDep.doc" and followed method "How to Deploy RPC over HTTP for the First Time on Exchange Server 2003, No Front-End Server, Back-End on Global Catalog Server" including Valid Ports setting.
3. Configured Outlook client according to the same document (server name = FQDN on local network, http proxy = mail.company.com, which is the same as the MX record for the mail server, tested the name with nslookup, and it resolves).
4. Tested web interface "https://mail.company.com/exchange" and accepted and installed the certificate, tested ok.

My problem is that the Outlook client does not connect, and after the basic authentication window, I get the message that the server is unavailable. I have tried NTLM authentication as well, as detailed in several sites, but I am still unable to connect to the mail server.

I have even bypassed the firewall, and connected directly to the ADSL router, but still the same, so it cannot be a port blocking issue (since I have opened ports 6001-6004 on the firewall earlier, along with 80, 443, and 135).

Can you please help me out here? My server is a DC with Global Catalog server, and running Windows Server 2003, with SP1, and Exchange SP2. My clients are running Windows XP with SP2.

Would really appreciate the assistance! Thanks a million! :-)

Have a great day!

Shiv
