We are in the process of installing ISA 2004 on a Virtual machine. We only want it to be the web proxy server for some machines with private IPs. in our network.
Question: when asking for “internal IP range”, I add private ip range we used. Will this affect all other machines which are not using private IPs? The ISA server is only a member server in the domain with only one NIC. Since ISA is basically a FireWall software I am not sure its behavior after the IP range setting.

HI, What is wrong with this setup? You can configure the ISA with Single Nic, but after the installation completed and asked you for the internal IP Address, then from the Network -> Select Single Network Adabter. Just follow the procedure and it will be done for you.
But, in this case you have to have an Edge Firewall that Well-Configured, also your clients Gateway will point to the firewall or may be a Core Switch that connects to the External Network.
In this case you have to make an Access Rule in the Edge Firewall says and Request Comes from the Internal Clients Going to External, it should first Validated and Authenticated by ISA Server, after this process is being done by ISA Server, then the request will go out to the External Network "Internet".
