Hello,

I need help trying to setup a lab using VMware. I have been trying all day to get my lab vm's to access the internet. I think my problem is with how you setup the virtual adapthers in VMware.

I have these machines.

SV1 (DC)

PC1 (workstation)

SV02 (ISA Server 2004)

How do I setup the nics for this configuration?

Thanks,

Mike

DC and Client1 cannot access the Internet, but can ping each other. I have the default gateway set on both to the ISA server. I also have a FW rule set, to allow all http traffic from local to external.

Here is how I have it setup in LAB:

Client1

IP address: 192.168.1.12
SM: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.1.10
DNS: 192.168.1.11
DC

IP address: 192.168.1.11
SM: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.1.10
DNS: 192.168.1.11

ISA

Nic 1 -Inside
IP address: 192.168.1.10
SM: 255.255.255.0
GW: None
DNS: 192.168.1.11

Nic2-Outside
IP address: 1.1.1.1
SM: 255.255.255.0
GW: 1.1.1.2
DNS: None
I have my ISP DNS numbers:

Nic3-DMZ
IP address: 172.16.1.1
SM: 255.255.255.0
GW: None
DNS: None

MY ISP DNS Servers

P-68.87.27.89
S-68.87.119.27

I added these to my DNS forwards tab for all other domains, I do not know if this is the right thing to do?

I think my biggest problem is with setting up the VMware's Ethernet nics, how do you know what nic is what in vmware to windows, because vmware listed them like eth1 eth2 eth3 and in windows I have them listed as inside, outside, dmz?

I have Client1 and DC on vnet2.

ISA Server on

Outside briged

Inside vnet2

DMZ vnet2

does this sound like it is right.

Thanks,

Mike
