Hello,

I recently published one of our Windows XP Professional Workstations via an ISA Server Publishing Rule to provide occasional remote access via RDP.

I have since noticed that the Firewall Log contains entries that suggest that the other workstations on the network are using this publishing rule to gain outbound access to the internet.

Why would ISA grant access to the internet via an (inbound) Server Publishing Rule when there is a perfectly good (outbound) Protocol Rule available? This publishing rule does not even use the correct protocol for outbound web access.

TIA,
Stephen

It turned out that I had created an identically named "Protocol Rule" - which of course I did not need for server publishing. Only the "Protocol Definition" and the "Server Publising Rule" are required.

I removed it, and all is now well.
