We have 4 servers in our 2006 Enterprise array, mostly because we are planning on growing our architecture/connections in the future.

Can you tell me any disadvantages to this configuration?  I have not found a way to setup intra-array communication except for setting up a hub that would interconnect all 4 servers.  Because of that, we can't really use CARP, or at least that's my understanding.

As for logging, we are using MSDE currently.  Can someone explain to me how the file structure for the logging works across all 4 servers?  I'm asking because two of our servers have less disk space than the other 2.  I've thought about using SQL logging, but have seen mulitple issues with it and EE.

I can't really seem to find any information on >2 servers in an array.  Is it really that strange of a config?

On the contrary, that's what Enterprise Edition is designed for.  Multiple server arrays provide fault tolerance and allow you to improve performance by distributing traffic across all the servers in the array.

If you use ISA Server intergrated NLB then you must have a dedicated network for intra-array communication.  However, you can still use CARP.

Take a look at this document:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/isa/2006/cache_concepts.mspx

And this, about using NLB and CARP:

These two provide logging and troubleshooting guidance:
