Hello,

Our company is running ISA server 2006 on a Windows 2003 Standard Editiom with SP1 server.

Internally, we are able to connect to a intranet site; however, when one tries connection to the same site via VPN, the following error occurs:

error code 64: Host not available
Background: The connection to the Web server was lost.

I did some checking on the internet and it seems that this is an ISA issue.

I did uncheck HTTP 1.1 in Explorer.

Anyone have any ideas / suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

Do they have their proxy IP set in the browser when using VPN to connect?

I checked the settings on my laptop, and proxy is not defined. Incidentally, IE6 says proxy settings will be ignored when connecting via VPN.

Thanks,

Mark

Lets try this Mark,

Go into your ISA Server and choose Add-ins on the left pane. On the right side you will see a list of filters, choose web filters.

Disable the "compression filter" and "Cache filter" to see if this corrects it. Also make sure you clear local cache in browser before trying.

Hi Budman,

you didnt say anything about creating a rule for the vpn users to access your intranet site !

have u created such rule:

Allow >protocols > From VPN Clients> To Internal > All Users ?

Hi,

I do have a VPN rule. It is properly set and appaears to be working correctly esxcept in the instance described here.

I disabled the compression filter and Cache Filter along with clearing local cache.

Here is what happens:

I connect oto VPN.

I am able to pull up the first web page, which is a validation screen. One enters username and password.

It is the second step that is causing the error.

However, by disable the filters mentioned above, I now get different results:

In Firefox, I am now prompt to download a .dll file. If I download it, the system expects me to run it, which does nothing. If I cancel, I remain on the login screen.

In IE 7, the system just hangs after I enter login credentials.

When I am on the intranet without VPN, I am able to login through the web browser and access the applications (which is web based).

Any ideas? At least the error code no longer appears after disabling the filters above!.

Thanks,

Mark
