I can update my isa server and my computer if i open the windows update site and download updates but automatic update is not working. When i restart any isa server or my computer, Automatic Update Icon comes and asks to update. When i click download updates, it disappears after some time and does not download updates.

Any Suggestions!

Have you already tried clearing the local cache to see if that helps?

Yes! i cleared the cache but still not working. Can it be due to authentication on some rules? I have some rules that require user authentication but for windows update i have a rule for Server that is for all users.

Thankx!

Hi,

Are you on AD environment? If yes I do suggest that you install WSUS on one of your servers so that each machine just picks up updates on your approve critical updates that you made. In this sense it will be quicker for client machine to update since its already save on your WSUS server.

Cheers....

Even-though I agree with "ianfermo", I found this article that is a bit old; but may be helpful for what you may be experiencing.

Also, if you have not done this aleardy, you may want to check the Firewall Policy Editor to make sure Microsoft Windows Update is enabled.

What is the purpose of "System Policy Allowed Sites" if i still have to enter these URLs that are in this site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885819  in my Access Rule. I already have an Allow access rule for "System Policy Allowed Sites" that should allow my isa server to update automatically but it is not working.

Thankx!
