I have configured an ISA Server 2006 in another site as my default proxy for IE7 using the MS Firewall client. The server is CRS-ISA. I can browse the net OK, but when I type in "\\CRS-ISA" in Windows Explorer to view the shared folders on the server, I get an error that the server was not found.

Here's what the ISA Server logging says:

Why is this so?

ISA Server 2006 running on MS Server 2003 SP1 on IP 10.16.1.100 . My workstation is WinXP SP2 on IP 10.3.17.241.

I know. But I promise to use it only for my own personal use and not let anyone else on it!

I need to constantly move administration files to and from the server to my notebook- no one else will have access to it.

I created a rule as such:
Name: MS CIFS access to ISA Server
Allow
Protocols: MS CIFS (TCP), Netbios Name Service
From Internal to Local Host
For all users (only for testing!)

The only problem is that I don't have a fixed IP on my notebook and the traffic in the log has no username thus I can not restrict the rule by username. Is there any other way of doing this?

You'll need to assign a static IP address to the notebook, as you can't use user/group auth to reach the local host network.

HTH,
Tom
