We are currently unable to start the ISA fire wall, when we try we get the event log entry below. We have searched the we and the forum but cannot find anything, there are articles on the 11005 error, but none for it speifying a device issue.
Can anyone shed some light ore point me in the correct direction.
EVENT ID 11005 Microsoft Firewall failed. The failure occurred during Initialization of Network Address Translation (NAT) because the system call PNATInit failed. Use the source location 308.1151.3.0.1200.50 to report the failure. The error code in the Data area of the event properties indicates the cause of the failure. For more information about this event, see ISA Server Help. The error description is: A device attached to the system is not functioning.
EVENT ID 7024 The Microsoft Firewall service terminated with service-specific error 213005.
A search on Error 213005 points to, amongst others, this tektips article http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=295064 about 'corrupt' information bound to the Network card. I know I had this error some years back when a change of IP to a frame realy circuit wasn't performed very well. In teh end we cheated and turfed the old network card and installed a new one which gave us a 'clean' registry as such for it to work with.
A more generalised search on Event ID 7024 relates to the browser service not starting... which is often related to incorrect IP settings, duplicate names discovered on teh network, WINS screwups etc.
Failure to start the "IP stack" along with other dependencies will certainly mean the firewall service is unable to start as well. Check out the dependencies of the ISA firewall server is check to see those services have started. You may be seeing 'the end of the chain' with your ISA problems.
