CSDAdmin -> Non Domain Computers knowing proxy settings? (8.May2008 3:02:37 PM)

Hello,
Now that ISA is working, just have an idea to improve usability.
We have the ISA as the DHCP default gateway, with web proxy enabled (not force authentication) with a single rule to allow traffic out (http/https/ftp for authenticated). Domain Policy for user login sets IE proxy settings, and removes connection from the internet options.

As more students/faculty bring home(non domain) laptops, they join the wireless/wired network and get DHCP settings saying to go through ISA to get out. Yet they cannot, and no real message appears from ISA saying why. This leads to phone calls, etc.

I created a page that checks what browser/os you have and gives you specific instructions to set the proxy settings in the browser. Yet there again it does no good sitting on the webserver that they are not automatically going to.

So I am thinking:
When you go to starbucks to use internet access, Tmobile page interrupts you from getting out to the net.
Can ISA do the same? Any kind of custom http filter that checks if you are trying to go out port 80 and redirects you to a page?

Found a 3rd party that may do this, http://www.collectivesoftware.com/Products/

Web Direct won't do it, but they are releasing a script that may do it, they are sending me the beta now, will post results!
