hello every body, I use ISA 2004 Standard Editon .. How can I block Gtalk application & also another instant messaging application such as Yahoo & MSN Messanger??? Any Articles or Tutorials???

1. To do this, go to the Firewall Policy section of the ISA management console. Click on the Create new Access Rule task. This brings up the New Access Rule Wizard. Name the new rule deny MSN and Whichever and click Next. Take the default of this being a Deny rule and click Next. Under the This rule applies to section, use the dropdown to select Selected Protocols. Click Add. Expand the Protocols for Instant Messaging and double click AOL Instant Messenger. Double click MSN Messenger. Click close 2. Click Next and then click Add. Double click the Internal network and click Close. Click Next and then click Add. Double click the External network and click Close. Click Next and then click Next again to apply this to all users. Click Finish to add the rule. 3. Click Apply to apply the rule and click OK when done. You have completed the first task of blocking the ports for these IM protocols.

thanks mate ..now i see & MSN & AOL is OK ..but I don't know that which Protocol Gtalk used?? so how can I block??

Open a browser and go to "the google" - type "gtalk firewall ports" into the search field and click Search - select the first response, which is Google's own documentation. Amazingly they tell you exactly what ports to open to use their service! Armed with that, you can define your own protocols for GTalk, and maybe even Y! Messenger. Add these newly defined protocols to the block rule. ;) Glenn
