jenriqu -> How to setup ISA 2006 (DMZ) to communicate with Veritas Netbackup 5.1 (3.Jun.2008 1:07:06 PM)

Hello all -

I have worked with Symantec (a.k.a. Veritas) to see if we can find a work around to backing up a Public DMZ server (01) to the 'internal' Netbackup Server we have. Our Netbackup server is currently setup to backup other DMZ boxes without ISA 2006 installed. These servers are working (backing up) just fine. When we uninstall ISA 2006 from (01), the communication/backup between Netbackup and the Public DMZ server (01) works just fine. What is it that we need to do to allow/permit the communication/backup between the two servers to work together? Is it a rule? If so, what exaclty will be needed in that rule? Do we need to turn off other Services in this Windows 2003 server box?

I almost forgot  to mention that I have asked our Network guys to open all the ports necessary for the Netbackup daemons to communicate through our switch.

Any help on this would be grateful.

Hi jenriqu,

as long ISA server is a FW box, you have to create access rules to allow traffic between you internal network and your DMZ network. Even if the network guys of your company allow all ports necessary, you have to do it in ISA too.
About what protocols you need to allow you just have to monitor the ISA logging to find out.

One more thing you also have to define network rules according to the network relationship that you will use (route or NAT).

Regards.
