Hi,

what happens if ISA´s trials version expires? [8|]

ISA stops working...

However, the good news is that you can reinstall ISA (with the same version) a non-trail copy on top of itself and it will retain all of the configuration settings.

In fact, I had to do mine remote (as I was 300 miles away and didn't want to drive) with remote desktop.  Personally, I didn't think it would work... but it did! :)

Once the install completes, everything will be back to normal.

Hi Paulo,

The evaluation period for the trial software is for approximately 180 days. After this period, the following occurs:

After the evaluation period ends, there is a grace period of approximately five to seven days. During this time, the following notification indicates that the trial period is over each time the Microsoft Firewall service restarts: “The evaluation period for this version of Microsoft ISA Server 2006 has expired. Upgrading to the fully purchased version of Microsoft ISA Server 2006 without losing the existing configuration is available”.

After the grace period ends, ISA Server services will not start, and the following entry indicating expiry is added to Microsoft Windows® Event Viewer: “Event ID 14037: The Microsoft ISA Server Control service was stopped. The evaluation period has expired. Refer to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=11624 for information on upgrading to the official version of Microsoft ISA Server 2006”. Note that ISA Server services are dependent on the ISA Server Control service.

Hi Tarek,

thanks for the reply. I was just confused, because I installed an ISA in a test environment and the 180 days period was over, but the ISA was functional. Thanks for make it clear now! [;)]
